weaving together a life
how it all began
It all started with a knitting practice I started in my teens and picked up again as a young mum in my 30's. As a young family we moved from city life in Calgary, and started our country chapter, beginning in Bragg Creek and finally moving to a 10 acre parcel in Priddis. I found the Sheep Creek Weavers guild in Millarville, AB, where I quickly learned how to dye yarn for my knitting projects and I was hooked! Soon after, I bought my first spinning wheel, and before I knew it, I was dyeing and spinning yarn to sell.
By 2013, I started spinning textured art yarn, that I knew I wanted to weave into fabric. I was introduced to the Saori loom and I officially became a weaver; dyeing and spinning to weave my own fabric.
Two years later, I converted the barn on our property to Tin Roof Fibre Studio where I sold fibre arts supplies, taught dyeing workshops, and hosted guest instructors in spinning and Saori weaving.

It was an amazing four years, as I built a small fibre arts community with the studio at the center! During that time, I also honed my unconventional practices in dyeing, spinning and weaving, which all culminates in the creation of exciting, colourful and highly textured cloth that has become my signature.

In March of 2019, I was honoured to be the Spotlight Artist at the Alberta Craft Council in Calgary, where I produced over 25 woven pieces in a collection exploring "Alberta Landscapes".
In 2020, I sold my home in Priddis, closed Tin Roof Fibre Studio and moved back to Calgary. Saying goodbye to the lovely community I hosted at the studio was difficult, but I knew in my heart that my textile art practice would survive the move, as would the friendships.
Fast forward three years, and I am beginning again. I have finally adjusted to my new life in the city, and also completed a fibre arts residency this past summer at the Alberta University of the Arts. I have set up my home studio and am excited to start this new chapter of producing exciting new work!
